How to add text to a photo

  1. Paste an image with Ctrl+V, drop a file on the page or press Load.
  2. The text tool is ready. Click where the text should go and start typing.
  3. Set the size and colour in the options bar, and drag the text to position it.
  4. On a busy photo, pick Outline or Box, the outlined or the boxed A after Size.
  5. Double-click the text to edit the words. Copy with Ctrl+C, or save as PNG, JPEG or WebP.

Caption or label a photo

Add a caption along the bottom, or drop short labels onto the parts of the picture you want to name. Pick a colour that stands out from the background, or give the text an outline or a box, and raise the size for a heading or lower it for a footnote.

Add a note to a screenshot

Type a note next to whatever you are explaining, then point at it with an arrow or ring it with a box. Double-click any label later to fix a typo or reword it.

FAQ

Can I edit the text after placing it?

Yes. Double-click the text to retype it, or drag it to move it. Its size, colour, style and font change from the options bar.

How do I make text readable on a busy photo?

Pick Outline or Box, the outlined or the boxed A in the options bar. Outline edges each letter in black or white, whichever stands out more against the text colour. Box puts the text on a rounded block of its colour, with the letters in black or white.

Can I change the font?

Pick Sans, Serif or Mono from the Font list, and use the B button for bold. They're fonts your device already has, so nothing is downloaded.

Is my photo uploaded?

No. The text is added locally in your browser, and the photo never leaves your device.
